SAN FRANCISCO -
FROM THE TAXI DRIVER'S SEAT,
Winter Photos,
Nov. 2005 - Feb. 2006.

It's been almost four months since the last edition of "From the Taxi Driver's Seat." There are many night shots and twilight shots in this collection - due to the fact that in the early part of the winter many of my taxi shifts were done without any daylight. Some nights I began my shift earlier and had a short amount of daylight.

winter1 (87K) I hate getting stuck in traffic on Powell Street. But in this case it gave me the opportunity to photograph the happy kid on the cable car in front of me. I took this shot through the windshield.

winter2 (67K) A trio of Santas leaning on a window on Powell Street in Union Square.

winter4 (89K) The view from Post Street looking south on to Union Square during the holiday season.

winter3 (77K)
Theater patrons enter the Golden Gate Theater to see Billy Crystal's "700 Sundays."

winter5 (75K) A dog leans out of a car.

winter6 (95K) A cable car decorated for the holidays heads south on Powell Street.

winter7 (97K) Pedestrians cross 4th Street at Howard in front of the Yerba Center Carousel.

winter8 (96K) A mural on a street wall. Notice the parking meter in lower part of the shot.

winter9 (88K) I know this shot is not sharp, but I like this image of the man playing the violin on the streetcorner- so I decided to use the image.

winter10 (103K) Here is what would be considered "spot news" in my photojournalism class. A car accident on Gough Street. There were some injuries and three people went to the hospital. Unfortuately it happened after midnight and I missed the deadline for the morning edition of the San Francisco Chronicle.

winter11 (93K) The trees in Huntington Park are decorated with Christmas lights.

winter12 (95K) Women walk pass Macy's in Union Square.

winter13 (86K) A man wipes the face of a child in North Beach.

winter14 (81K) This image looks like it came out of a Fellini movie. Guests on their way to a costume ball leave the Sir Francis Drake Hotel.

winter15 (61K) A couple on their way to the costume ball pass a homeless man asking for change.

winter16 (87K) A cool car in the Mission District.

winter18 (97K) Another accident. This time in Chinatown.

winter17 (79K) The guy on the left with his hand up is looking for one ticket to the sold out concert.

winter20 (72K) The view from Montgomery Street looking south at Green Street.

winter21 (93K) A view of Union Square during the holiday season. This time facing North.

winter22 (83K) A woman working for the Liberty Tax Service reminds drivers on Geary Blvd. that it's tax season.

winter23 (83K) A baker at the Boudin Bread Bakery on Jefferson Street at Fisherman's Wharf reacts to my camera. He is on the other side of the bakery window.

winter24 (83K) The doorman lets the candy girl walk into the club as someone walks by.

winter25 (84K) The James Flood Mansion on Nob Hill is the only home to survive the earthquake and fire of 1906. The building is now the home of the Pacific Union Club.

winter26 (91K) A rainy night in San Francisco. winter27 (75K) The Hells Angels are in front of my cab on Union Street.

WELL, THAT'S IT UNTIL NEXT MONTH. DROP ME AN E-MAIL, Philflash@aol.com AND GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK. I APPRECIATE ANY COMMENTS - NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE. THANKS!
